Carol Gunnels, Office Administrator

Education: Graduated from Hanna High School. Carol has over 25 years experience in dentistry, and can perform any position in the dental office, from the front desk to dental assisting.  100% cross-trained! Graduate of Leadership Laguna Madre, class VI. Many patients comment on what a great, personable experience they had while at our office.  We attribute much of that to Carol’s 5-Star Customer Service skills.

Irma Martinez, RDH

Education: Graduated with honors from Hanna High School. Irma’s grade point average ranked 10 out of 587 students! 
Irma graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Science from Texas State Technical College, graduated from Hygiene School, and received the “Golden Scaler Award”, in addition to being named “Top Student.” Wow!

Hobbies:  Enjoy singing in church choir, sewing, and “organizing everything.”

I have a wonderful husband (elementary PE teacher/coach), 4 healthy & beautifully talented children and 10 siblings.  My mother is 77 years old and still very active and a great seamstress.”

Lori Melina, RDA

Education: Graduated from Port Isabel High School and attended University of Texas. Certification: Registered Dental Assistant.   Lori is certified in Radiology, Nitrous Oxide Monitoring, CPR, OSHA, and Jurisprudence.

Ericka Silva, RDA

Education: Graduated from Port Isabel High School then attended San Antonio College of Medicine and Dentistry. Graduated with a degree as “Registered Dental Assistant.” In addition, Ericka is Nitrous Oxide Certified.

Samantha Martinez

Education: Graduate of Los Fresnos High School and Vanguard Institute of Technology / Medical Assistant.

Certification:  Registered Medical Assistant

Sandy Aguilera – Patient Care Coordinator

Education: Graduate of Port Isabel High School. Immediately after graduating, Sandy began training and became certified as a Medical Office Specialist at Career Centers of Texas at Brownsville.

Sandy is new to dentistry and is currently in the process of acquiring her “Registered Dental Assistant’s” Certification.

Adriana Villegas

Education: Graduated from San Benito High School at top 15% in 1995. Then graduated from TSTC in 1997 with a degree in Applied Science in Health Information Technology. In 1997, Adriana passed her National Exam and earned her title as “Registered Health Information Technician.”

Loves Dentistry because: My background and education has been in the medical field for the past decade. The ‘dental environment’ has opened up an entire new world for me. The dental field is very rewarding and exciting. I enjoy working here because all of us here at Port Isabel Dental Associates strive to make healthier and brighter smiles.

Hobbies: Taking pictures, blogging, zumba, and generally watching my children grow every day.

Family: My wonderful and loving husband was my high school sweetheart. We have two precious children: Our princess Allyson Skyla and our little man Adrian Ethan.

Kystle Guerra

Education:  Graduated with honors from Los Fresnos High School, ranking 13th out of 467 graduating students.  Krystle is a Registered Dental Hygienist who earned a degree in Dental Hygiene from Texas State Technical College. She is also certified in Radiology, Nitrous Oxide Monitoring, CPR, Osha, & Jurisprudence.
