Meet Dr. Grayson Sellers

A 1974 graduate of the University of Texas Dental School in Houston. Shortly after graduation, he worked for the State Health Department and became part of a team that designed, built, and staffed the Nation’s first Mobile Dental Unit.  The unit’s specific purpose was to provide dental care for the indigent. This was a rewarding experience early in Dr. Sellers’ career, as he registered his dental license to work in 54 different counties across the State of Texas, providing dental care to many patients of all ages.  This early experience is probably what initiated Dr. Sellers’ interest to help the ‘needy.’

Many in the dental profession say that Dr. Sellers’ true talent is his ability to quickly identify a need, then organize and implement a plan of action.  With his early experience plus his unique ability to implement ideas, Dr. Sellers was able to effectively create an organization in the Rio Grande Valley that would provide dental care for the indigent in our community….thus, Dentists Who Care was born.  Dentists Who Care won the Governor’s Award for the “Best Charity Organization in Texas” in 1999. To date, Dentists Who Care has provided over 2 million dollars worth of free dental care to those in need.  His passion for ‘service’ is admired by many.  Thank you Dr. Sellers!

Dr. Sellers proudly continues to serve on the Board of Directors to this day. He is also an active member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Rio Grande Valley District Dental Society.  Dr. Sellers attends many continuing education courses throughout the year.  His constant quest to learn new techniques keeps him busy.

In private practice since 1977, Dr. Sellers attended Texas A & M University, and enjoys talking about his four kids - all Aggies as well. (Gig ‘Em Aggies!) His hobbies include playing tennis, walking on the beach, and deep sea fishing. Be sure to ask him about the 550 pound black marlin that he caught in Mexico.
